Bilateral Relations

The economic and commercial cooperation between the UAE and India has been the cornerstone of the strong bilateral relationship. Trade and economic engagement between the countries now valued at US $ 60 billion, reflects the evolution of the strategic partnership. Being among the top trading partners for each other, ties are being further strengthened through diversifying non-oil trade.

Political Relations

There is strong political commitment at the highest level on both sides to expand ties in the areas of trade and investments, as well as boost cooperation in new areas of energy security, food security, defence and security, IT/ ITeS and space.

UAE-India Relations Have Strengthened In The Past 5 Years

  • August 2015 : Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi visited UAE, first visit by an Indian Prime Minister in 34 years
  • February 2016 : H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed AlNahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi & Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces visited India on a State visit
  • January 2017 : H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces visited Indiaas the Chief Guest of Republic Day Celebration of India
  • February 2018 : Second visit to the UAE by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi
  • August 2019 : Third visit to the UAE by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi
